What an exciting season 2010 was for Summer Swimming! Our program grew by 20 swimmers this year making for more competition and faster swimming. There was never a dull moment at any of the 5 summer swim meets held in Winkler, Neepawa, Manitou, Treherne and Beausejour. Although the weather wasn't always the best - in Manitou we cooked, in Treherne we froze and in Beausejour the wind almost took us away - not once did any of our hard working swimmers complain. And swimmers, your dedication and hard work paid off. Congratulations on a great season.

The summer swim program would not be possible without all those who devote their summers to making it happen. Coaches, parents and volunteers, we thank you for your continued support. This program relies on you more than you know and Swim Manitoba is grateful for all you hard work.

On August 22, 2010, Beausejour hosted the Summer Swim Championships and Awards Ceremony. We had 80 swimmers in attendance all striving for their place on the podium. Below is a summary of the exciting events that took place that day, and all the awards that the swimmers received for their hard work.

Summer Swimming always recognizes the outstanding achievements of its swimmers with High Point awards in each age category. The awards are based on cumulative point scores over all 5 Grand Prix meets. This years winners received a plaque and prizes donated by our sponsor - Body Sculpture By Lynne. Thank you to Body Sculpture for helping us give our athletes the recognition they deserve. This years winners are:

Swim Manitoba also recognizes the teams with the most combined scores in both the Large Club and Small Club Categories. This years winner of the small club plaque was the Manitou Stingrays Swim Club!

The Overall winner, and Summer swimming champions for the 5th year in a row were the Winkler Barracudas!

Congratulations teams, your coaches, parents and swimmers should be proud of all the work that went into winning these awards.
