Return to Play
Current public health orders in Manitoba will continue until Friday, February 12, 2021. As a result, swim clubs and individuals residing in the Provincial Response Level: Critical (Red) are ineligible to participate in swim programming, a status which will be reviewed as the province downgrades the restrictions from Provincial Response Level: Critical (Red) to Restricted (Orange).
Swim Natation Manitoba recognizes that the last several months have been challenging for all of our members and specifically the fact that all recreation facilities are closed in the province. The Swim Manitoba Board and staff continue to review options while we wait for direction from the Provincial Government/Public Health.
We will participate with head coaches in a weekly Manitoba Swim Coaches Association (MSCA) meeting to discuss various avenues and scenarios that will be possible for a return to sport as safely and efficiently as possible when we are authorized to do so. A meeting of club presidents is also scheduled for Thursday, February 4 to provide an update on the most recent developments and answer any questions and concerns the presidents or their members may have.
It is important to remember that Public Health orders must be adhered to once swim programming is permitted to resume. To ensure that the resumption of swimming is successful, compliance to the safety protocols by all our members is paramount, required, and not optional.
Physical distancing, mask wearing, proper hygiene, and screening are necessary steps that must be practiced in order to return to swimming safely.
Olympic and Paralympic Trials
Swimming Canada announces that the Olympic and Paralympic Trials are postponed.
They will take place from May 24 to 28, 2021.
