Pan Am Pool - annual maintenance and repair
All annual repairs and maintenance planned for the Pan Am Pool are in progress. The work is scheduled to be completed by early July. This will eliminate the need for the pool shutdown that was originally planned for August and September.
Return to Play – Safe Return to Swimming
Swimming Canada has created a working group to develop a safe return to swimming. They are also working with the other aquatic sports to present a joint plan. Swim Manitoba is also working with the other provincial aquatic sports (Artistic Swimming, Diving, Water-Polo), the Lifesaving Society, and the City of Winnipeg for a joint return to play plan. Each provincial sport organization (PSO) must submit a return to play request to the Government of Manitoba for approval. Our aquatics group is mandated to work with the documents of the national organizations (NSO), but to also ensure that they are adapted to the requirements of the Government of Manitoba.
The Manitoba government has required each provincial sport organization (PSO) to submit a return to play plan through Sport Manitoba. Only PSOs may submit a return to play plan. We are actively working on the plan with the expectation to have it submitted as soon as possible following the receipt of the national plans.”
2020-2021 Meet Schedule Draft

SNM Banquet
Considering the current situation, the board of directors has decided to turn to a virtual gala for this year. More info to come in a later newsletter.
Backyard pool tether training- insurance
We were asked about insurance for training in residential pools. The question was submitted to our insurers and the answer is:
“The insurer has indicated that this is not covered by the policy. The CGL insurance will only apply if the workout/training can be supervised by a coach/trainer.”
