There are two distinct tiers of selection for Team Manitoba.

1. Selection to represent the province at Games such as Canada Games and is under the direction of Sport Manitoba                                                                                                                                           

2. Selection by Swim Manitoba based on the performance from the previous year to determine what is called the Senior, Junior, Senior Para, and Junior Para teams. The selected swimmers receive an annual grant and must participate in training camps and competitions.
